Copyright Outlining

NOTICE - Albums that have copyright protection will have a label on the top outlining WHAT is copyrighted and what MUST be done if they are used. However, most photos will follow the following copyright restrictions,

COPYRIGHT

Photos posted on connprojects.com/photography, taken by me,  and/or ANY photos listed under connprojects.com/albums are copyrighted. Because I release the photos for free, they fall under a common sense copyright (CSC). If you would like to use any of the photos, you are REQUIRED to credit me with one or more of the following ways:

1) Tag in the post (@connphotography on Instagram OR Conner Lipke on Facebook)

2) Mention in post title or description

3) Use of watermarked photo

FOR USE IN BOOKS/PRINTING/MEDIA -

I recommend you contact me before you decide to print to let me know what photos you will be using. If that isn't an option, the following applies:

Credit must be given. This can be in the form of: Photos Courtesy of Conner Lipke , Photo VIA: Conner Lipke/Connphotography, Photo Credit: @connphotography, Photo credit: connprojects.com, or equivalent. The credit must either include my website, my name, or my business.

EXCEPTIONS:

Photos that are taken of SLHS Events are granted to use any SLHS Event photo for yearbook, journalism, etc without my expressed permission. Any SLCS Organization may use this as well.

HOWEVER- Photos that are taken at paid or independent events, do NOT fall under this exemption because it is an out of school event, and I am being hired as an independent contractor for said event.

One example is the LVC Championship. Even though South Lyon did have pictures taken OF them, I was not there in relation to the school: I was HIRED for the event. Thus any photos there, regardless of school, fall under the basic copyright rules.

Legal Stuff:

HOW COPYRIGHT WORKS -

Under US Copyright Law, a photo's copyright is owned by the person that TAKES the photo.

"...copyright protection exists from the moment an original work is “fixed” in a tangible medium. For photographers, for example, fixation occurs when you take a picture."

"Generally, the author and initial copyright owner of a photograph is the person who “shoots” or “takes” the photo.
